I'm very excited to announce my next portrait painting workshop at Workshops in Yorkshire.
This will be a weekend of painting in oils from the live model.
You will learn and develop your skills in capturing a likeness with expressive paint application, while keeping a strong sense of structure and form. A portrait from life is not just about the physical likeness, but also the character and essence of the human. Emphasis will be placed on having a dynamic and distinctive portrait.
You will use an extended limited palette, capturing natural flesh tones under a traditional lighting set up.
The workshops are suitable for all levels.
Materials Provided:
- Oil Paint (Michael Harding)
- Wooden Painting Panel
- Gamsol Odourless Mineral Spirit
- Tear Off Palette
Materials You'll Need:
- Brushes. I will send an email with the recommended brushes needed.
- Wooden palette if desired
- Apron
Lunch will be provided. Please provide me with details of any allergies

- There is a flight of stairs to the studio
- Parking can be found on Sackville St. 1 min walk from the bus station, 7 min walk from the train station.

If you cancel, full refunds can be given up to 8 weeks prior to the workshop. After then, I can only provide a refund if I can fill the place. If the workshop is postponed and you can't attend the new date, a full refund will be given.
